Cant play past the tutorial

Dont know what the deal is, but after finishing the tutorial, I cant start the game on my iPhone 5(iOS 6). The tower is there, and the first floor seems to be highlighted (something moving over it), but no matter where I tap, nothing happens. Tried force restarting the app and starting a new game, but neither worked. The tutorial part seemed ok (though cheesy cliche story and graphics), so if I could play, I might give it 3 or 4 stars based on the little I saw.
